“If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself.” 🥰 ~Rick Riordan
my approach to side hustles (#356)
My friend
is doing an Instant Client Chemistry workshop next month. Two days hyper-focused on content and how I can show up for my audience this year?Ummm…yes, please.
The first step is creating a manifesto, which will be a part of the pre-work goodness. Maybe I can make a Side Hustler Manifesto? A Juggler Manifesto? Something else entirely? 🤔 Gonna let that simmer a bit.
In the meantime, I’m jotting down some notes and ideas to prep for the training. Someone told me this week (hi Erin!) that she likes my approach to side hustles.
And I’m thinking about how I can put that into words. So, when I think about side hustles, here is what comes to mind:
It’s something you can do on the side of your day job
That also builds a safety net (diversified income amirite?)
It’s something you are passionate about, perhaps a creative outlet
It’s something that makes you some money and brings you joy
It’s something fulfilling
It’s something you’ve always secretly wanted to do/try/become
It’s something that can turn into a full-time business (but doesn’t have to)
There are probably more things, but even writing those down has been super helpful.
Does any of the above resonate with you? Is there something else you may have noticed about my approach that I should add to the list?
On to the picks!

In this section, I plan to provide things/tips/resources that are helping me with caregiving, biz, self-care, and juggling in general. In the hopes that it’ll inspire you as well.
Here is what’s making my life easier this week:
⏰. Working 13-hour days. I knowwww, please don’t unsubscribe. 😉 In truth, it’s all about honoring my energy levels. I had a few days this week where I felt like I could work a longer day and finish some things, so I leaned into that. Because I also knew that there would be days when my capacity would be much lower. And it would work itself out.
💡Check in with yourself and your capacity. What do you have space for today? Should you do a little more or a little less today? Either answer is correct.
📱. Having a 1:1 offering that works with my strengths and lifestyle. What I love about my Mini Pep Talks offer is that it creates ease for me. My clients can grab it and know I’ll get back to them within one business day. This was super helpful for me this week as I had two folks book on one day. Huzzah! 🎉 And I was able to respond to them both the next morning. They got the encouragement and support they needed. And I could help them when I was at my best cheerleading self. Win-win!
💡What in your business might feel hard? Is there a different way of doing it? What would it make easier?
If you have found ways to make your life easier, please share, and I’d love to feature them here as well. Also, I’d love to hear any thoughts/questions/suggestions about this new section.

📸. App: Swipewipe. Got a few minutes to spare? Do some digital decluttering. If you’ve ever wanted to clean up your camera roll, this app is excellent and lets you do it one month at a time. (I originally saw this in Josh Spector’s newsletter and purchased the lifetime subscription.)
📺. Watching: Locke & Key. Father is murdered. Mom moves her and the three kids to the dad’s childhood home. Where soon, they start discovering magical keys. And you know where there is magic, someone always wants to take it away? Three seasons of good versus evil awesomeness. And the series had a very nice ending as well.

27 Life-Changing Micro Habits That Require Only A Few Minutes
“It may seem strange to do something for 30 seconds or just a few minutes. That’s an oddly achievable goal isn’t it? That’s the point of micro habits. Once you become used to the habits you set, you begin to do them naturally.”
Microhabits remind me so much of baby steps, and I love that they only need a few minutes of your time. This is one that I will start doing: “Stretch for 15-30 seconds before you get dressed.” And if I happen to miss it (because #lifehappens), I’ll do it before bed.
Is there a habit on this list you can commit to starting today?

“Simple life actions, when thought about, can be completely scary.
But here’s the thing: so many of us are doing things scared. I’m writing this to you, scared to open up and have it fall flat. Maybe you’re reading this scared of what’s to come in your life today.
We’re all scared. We’re doing it anyway.”
