"Dare greatly; get in the arena and try." πͺπΎ~Brene Brown
A couple nights ago, we had our Fear Experiment smoosh. It's a chance for all the art forms (improv, storytelling and Broadway) to perform in front of each other. It's always a nerve-wracking experience because until this point, we've just performed in front of our respective crews and captains. So now we put ourselves out there in front of others. Scary? Yup. Exciting? Yup.
Did we make mistakes? Absolutely. I totally forgot a couple steps and almost brought down the chandelier at least twice (sorry Saya! π€¦πΎββοΈ). But it was such a great night. Because Saya has created this environment where folks cheer louder for you when you are imperfect and that's just so awesome. It gives you permission to put yourself out there but also to fail. And know that either way, you have a group of people in that arena with you urging you to succeed.
And that's what I want for you. To do things that are a little scary. To ship things even if they feel imperfect. To take a tiny baby step towards that thing you've been wanting to do forever. Because whether it's perfect or you miss a step, I am here cheering you on and rooting for you to succeed. And I will clap even harder if you bring down the chandelier. π
On to the picks!
P.S. If you want to see the performance we are all working up to, you can still buy tix to the final Fear Experiment show. ππ½Would love to see you in the crowd.
P.P.S. I also had the chance to do an improv game and realize I may have a future career as a human jack-in-the-box. π₯³

Quit β adambrault.com
One of my bosses wrote this and it's giving me all the feels. I actually just quit a nonprofit board this past week and nothing about the board itself, but I just realized that I was a different person than I was when I said yes and so much has changed since then. And you know what? They didn't "take away my birthday". They seemed fine with it and offered me a way to stay involved in a way that was a lower lift.
