“Don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do.” 💪🏾~Ella Fitzgerald
life curveballs but also a win.. (#379)
If you remember in my last issue, I mentioned setting up an ambitious week for myself…
Narrator: it was the most ambitious of weeks.
Life had a few unexpected plot twists on the work and caregiving fronts, and by the end of the week, I was running on empty. Some of my business to-dos, including this newsletter, didn't go as planned.
I did manage to carve out some time on Sunday to get my $9 offer submitted. So, that’s a win! 🎉 The go-live date is set for August 1st, and I’m super excited about it:
Do you have a side hustle idea in mind? Or do you need help finding one? Let’s give it a kickstart.

Ultimately, there are a few things in flux in my life that I’m hoping will calm down fairly soon. But through all this chaos, one thing remains clear: consistency and grace are so important on this journey. Even when things don’t go as planned, making small progress is still progress.
How did your week go? Did you face any unexpected twists or manage to achieve something you’re proud of? Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear from you!
Remember, every step forward counts, no matter how small. Keep going.
On to the picks!
P.S. My gurl Saya, who has built a business doing all the things she loves, has brought back her famous, life-changing Life of Yes workshop. If the name sounds familiar, yes, she’s also my speaking coach, and whenever she has an event, it’s always a good time. On August 8th, walk away with simple, actionable steps to create a fulfilled life that fits you—your definition of success, your values, boundaries, wants, and ideal lifestyle. Highly, highly recommend!

📺. Watching: Descendants: The Rise of Red. I went to visit my nephew recently, and after a fun game of “Close your eyes, I have a surprise for you”, he plopped me down in a chair and said this was his current favorite movie. I don’t disagree. This is a fun addition to the Descendants universe. It’s cool to get to know a new group of kids and a fresh storyline. It’s a time-traveling adventure with a dose of teen drama and of course, the catchy tunes Disney is known for. Red’s look is 🔥. I need that hair and outfit ASAP!
🪄. Tool: Marketing Magic: I am currently working my way through a training called A Year of Content in One Day (also a really good $27 training!) that made me want to try this tool for content strategy. I have to say it’s nice to have a tool where I can put my brand info once, and it can help me create all types of marketing assets. I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this can do, but I love that it gives me such good starting points for sales pages and things. And my favorite part? You can upload transcripts and get ideas for how to repurpose that content into new things! If you want to check it out, you can get a 7-day free trial.

My magic response to “Hey, can I pick your brain?”
I love Alex’s approach to handling these types of requests. He starts with what he calls a “magic email response”:
I’m happy to help! I do keep my limited 1-1 time available for my consulting clients, students, and Indy Hall members, so right now the best way for me to help will be to know what questions you have upfront. Try to pick 1-2 that are most important to you, and the more specific the better!
Send those over and I’ll try my best to respond as soon as I can!
This helps weed out folks who don’t want to do the work of sending the 1-2 questions. But for those that do, then you:
Get your answer on record - write it or record it (and transcribe)
Publish it - so that the next time someone asks the question, you can link them to the answer!
Offer a paid 90-minute video consultation - if they really want advice specific to them.
Dinner or drinks - rare, but an option.
I definitely want to steal options 1 and 2 for my business and point folks here for #3.

I saw this thing the other day that totally threw me off. First, it made me start to doubt myself, as I was not able to do any of those things. But then, it made me mad because some people think there’s one perfect recipe for success. Four hours of deep work? That’s next to impossible for me, as I’m juggling a job, a biz, and being a caregiver.
So, I was inspired to write this…
Everyone’s journey is different. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. You’re doing great, just as you are 💖
