"It's okay to feel more than one thing at once." ~Morgan Harper Nichols
This week has been hard. This pandemic has called for social distancing, closing of restaurants and bars, and canceling of a lot of things, including the Fear Experiment show I was hoping to perform at today. π Fear not, as the show will still "go all over the place" as Finn Hudson would say. Just at a later date.
I am also getting used to working from home. While one of my roles is completely remote, I've always headed to a co-working space. And my other in-person role switched to a teleworking status this week. So working from home with grandma has been an experience. It's hard to focus for deep pockets of time because she sees me being home as being home. And not like I need hours of focused time. So it'll take some learning for both of us. I think for me to get used to working in more short spurts and trying to get work done while she's otherwise occupied. But we'll find our rhythm. If nothing else, we as people are resilient. And even though this is all an adjustment and it's scary, I believe we will come out of this stronger than ever.
In the meantime, it is important to let ourselves feel. I wasn't letting myself feel sad, angry, upset for a few days, trying instead to force myself to be my typical positive upbeat self. And all it did was make me feel heavy and tight in my chest. So after chatting with my Broadway crew, I decided to do a few of our routines which made me feel so much better. After that, I sat down and wrote this post. And really just leaned into everything I've been feeling: the sadness, the fear, the anxiety, and the hope that this too will pass.
And like anything else, it is important to give ourselves grace as we navigate this new reality we find ourselves in.
I want to continue to be a resource to you to help you get your side hustle started. Because I believe now more than ever, we need additional streams of income. If you need an idea of steps to get started, here is a checklist.
Also if you'd like to chat with me live, I'm hosting a virtual Ask Me Anything (AMA) / office hour day on Voxer on Wednesday. Feel free to come and ask me any burning side hustle questions you may have. And get some 1 on 1 mentoring help. Deets here.
If you're not feeling that, hit reply and let me know what you need. Or ask me a question. I'll be thinking on other ways to help but if you have ideas, please let me know. Here for you.
Take care of you and your families. π€
