#jesspicks - Issue #21 - Getting More Done in Less Time, Managing Email Overload, & Making 2017 Amazing
This week has been game. changing. First off, I had the most wonderful Biz Therapy Session last weekend. I met 4 other amazing women entrepreneurs in different businesses and we each had a 25-minute hot seat to talk accomplishments, challenges and next steps for our businesses. I'm still processing and making plans but one thing is that Get Comfy with the Monkey is getting re-tooled so get your email list questions ready. :)
In other news, I got featured in Black Enterprise so I'm on top of the world right now!!!! ALL THE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!
Seriously, I was all smiles when the article came out and it just supports some of the thoughts I've been having around moving forward: side hustles, income diversity, technology and arming women with the tools to become changemakers. So I'm continuing to sit with that as I wind down the year and make plans for 2017.
I'm finding that really it's all a journey and that I don't have everything figured out, but that's OK as long as I'm still taking action and getting out of my comfort zone. So if you are also trying to find your calling or your purpose, remember that it takes time. It probably won't be the glorified aha moment that we think. It'll be trying things and tweaking and failing and then after awhile you may look up and realize that you've figured it out. So keep going. Keep stretching. Keep experimenting. Inbox getting you down? Seriously I have had so many issues managing email this year (and I still do lol) I hope I'm getting better at it, but there are some great tools on here if you're feeling the email overload too. I already use and love Boomerang for sending things later and reminding me to follow up on emails. Love HelloSign for digital signing of contracts. And I use Calendly to schedule Dream & Scheme sessions.
How I Get More Done In 2 Days Than Most People Do In 2 Weeks — www.forbes.com
I read this post and printed it out because it's so good! :) So many great tips in here. There's a lot in here I'm already doing, like keeping my mornings free for writing and strategizing (#10) and breaking tasks down into baby steps (#4). But I really want to work on: figuring out where I'm wasting time (#1) and his idea of working anywhere (#6) and scheduling larger chunks of time for personal development (#9).
11 End Of Year Traditions That Will Make 2017 Amazing — www.yesandyes.org
It's that time of year where we are all in heavy reflection mode or wondering where the heck the year went (like seriously I barely even remember November). I love Sarah's thoughts around really reviewing 2016 (what went well, what didn't, and there's a workbook to do this in!) and the idea of really taking the things you want to leave behind, writing them down and burning them. Some other great tips in here on ways to end the year on a high note!
