#jesspicks - Issue #22 - Project Jessica Updates, Waiting & Watching, & a Pep Talk from Gary Vee
This week has made me stretch a little bit with two things I've never done before:
I went to a concert all by myself. At first, it was a bit weird and I felt nervous but when the music started, I didn't even notice I was by myself anymore. Just me and the music. It was the King & Queen of Hearts tour - Mary J. Blige and Maxwell - two artists which I've never seen live before. Both were amazing. Both were transformational. It's amazing how spiritual and healing music can be, and live music just takes it to a whole new level. May do more solo concerts in the future.
I experienced acupuncture. A couple of folks have been telling me to try it for awhile and I finally decided to take the plunge. Let me just tell you the experience was very strange. It's weird opening your eyes and seeing needles sticking out of your nose and cheeks. :) But I feel better. I feel like my body is releasing some pressure and toxins so hopefully this means good things in my future. I'm scheduled to check in with the doctor next week so we'll see then if this is something I will do on a more regular basis.
In other news, I scheduled my Cisco exam - this is an exam I need to take (and pass) by January 31st to re-certify my current certifications. It's scheduled for 1/20 so I'm in hardcore study mode for the next month or so on that.
And it's almost the end of the year which makes me go into deep reflection mode. I wrote a little about it in my "Project Jessica Update" in the picks below and overall I feel pretty good about this year. It's had its sad, frustrating and challenging times, but I feel like I've grown and stretched and become a better version of myself. In 2017, I want to continue on this self-development journey and figure out what's next for Jess.
What have you learned or accomplished this year? Hit reply and let me know or comment on the post below. Would love to hear from you.
On to the picks for the week!
P.S. Since the holidays are coming up, this will be the last #jesspicks of 2016. I'm planning to use the downtime to wrap up the year, do some reading and planning, and see some shows.
I hope you have the happiest of holidays and an amazing New Year!
See you in 2017! xoxo
Project Jessica: An Update — techbizgurl.com
This is the time of the year that you see a lot of "Year in Review" posts. I decided to write my own - Jess style - including what worked, what didn't and some of my plans for 2017.
Why it took me 2 years to write this — medium.com
Christiana wrote an amazing post about something we all go through at one time or another. Waiting for answers. Watching other people Waiting to get started. Looking for that lightbulb moment. She shares some of the lessons she's learned. #1 being that "there is no epiphany." Nothing will ever be perfect. It's about starting and experimenting. Shoutout to my brother Malcolm for sharing.

Be warned that there are a LOT of "F" bombs in this post, but seriously take 15 minutes, do nothing else and watch this video. Gary Vee covers so many amazing things in here. His life philosophies. His no-holds-barred thoughts on entrepreneurship. Love when he says: "If anyone has ever made it that looks like you, you can too." Consider this our kick in the pants for 2017! Shoutout to my friend Rachel for sharing.
