"Live life as if everything is rigged in your favor." ~Rumi
Earlier this week for #FearExperiment we had a "smoosh" where Broadway dancers, improvisers and storytellers met up to perform. Our producer / fellow Broadway dancer Saya described how all of us were feeling quite perfectly: "vomit-y". It's because it was the first time we were performing in front of other people. And you know what? We survived. We practiced in a completely new space which was a lot smaller and we made adjustments, we made mistakes and we just went with it. We saw the other art forms which were also amazing and all in all it was the funnest night I've had in a long time.
I feel like often we are so afraid of failing and making a mistake that it can paralyze us or stop us from embracing the greatness that is inside all of us. What I have learned is that there are supportive spaces out there for you. This is one. But also that making mistakes is part of the fun and if you can feel comfortable enough to laugh at yourself (which is hard for me), everything is just better. And those are the moments that will make you smile on those cloudy days.
I will try to keep that in mind when gearing up to PERFORM IN FRONT OF 701 PAYING PEOPLE in a few weeks. Will you be one of them?
In other news, my birthday week has been filled with dancing and ice cream and I want to just keep that mood going all year. That works, right? ππ½ββοΈ
