This week, we have heavy hearts, amidst the hate crimes being committed against the Asian community. White supremacy is a threat to every marginalized person. What hurts one of us hurts all of us.
If you are looking for more information, education or ways to support, this is a great resource. (Tip: Girls Night In).
In times like these, we often wonder what else we can do. We can rest, for sure, because we have learned that it is its own form of resistance. And we are dealing with A LOT.
We can also take some advice from Desiree Lynn Adaway:
“Two things you can do when destruction is all around you: Love and Create.”
So that is what I plan to do. I'm sending out love to my friends, my family, my community, my city, my country, my planet. And I'm creating. This newsletter is a way for me to create and curate and show up and serve every week. I'm hoping you see this as a space where you can learn and experiment and dream and build a life that works for you.
I'm also creating space for some tough topics. Earlier this week, I facilitated an #IamRemarkable workshop for an incredible group of women. We talked about why self-promotion is so hard for underrepresented individuals and a lot of the societal and cultural stuffs that are working against us. But the women even talked about how those reasons made it all the more important to build this muscle. I honestly can't wait to see them go out in the world and own their narratives and feel more and more comfortable self-promoting and sharing the awesome things they are working on.
The more we love and create and share, the more others will love and create and share. And I think that sounds like a wonderful ripple effect to put into the world.
How about you? 💖

✅ Tool: Grammarly. I have been doing my fair share of writing lately across this newsletter and on the job front. This tool is always there, giving me helpful spelling and grammar nudges. And even helping me remove un-confident language from my vocabulary. I discovered that I use the words "just" and "really" a lot.
📺Watching: The One. I read this book by John Marrs a few years ago and was immediately drawn In by the premise. Imagine a world where you can submit your DNA and find your soulmate? Sounds pretty cool, right? But also has a ton of ramifications. The book was so awesome, so I had to watch the Netflix adaptation. It took more of a different perspective - while the book focused more on the relationships of the affected people, the show focused more on the creator of the test.
🎧Listening: Side Hustla! As I hear new songs, I'm adding new tunes to this playlist: this one from Gwen Stefani and one from Lorde. Let me know if there are other songs I should add!

You’ve Already Found Your Life’s Purpose — forge.medium.com
This article by Tim Denning popped back up on my radar, and I thought it was worth a re-share:
“Here’s a message for everyone feeling like they’re still searching: You already know more about your purpose than you realize. And that’s because your purpose is simply the meaning that you decide to attach to each day.”
8 Little Notes to Help You Get Your Time Back — bemorewithless.com
I always feel a bit discombobulated after Daylight Savings Time starts or ends. Love these little reminders that help us “save our precious resources for something more precious.”
My faves:
It’s easier to take back a no than to take back a yes.
We have to say no to the good stuff too.
I don’t say “no” because I’m so busy. I say “no” because I don’t want to be so busy.

😍 Last issue’s top pick was: this tweet, which is referencing this post.
🎧 Featured on the We're Only Human podcast and talked about why I’m not trying to leave my day job, how being laid off ended up being a blessing, me being a Broadway dancer (sometimes), and #caregiverlife.
