Would you like a pep talk? (#336)

Operation: Do a newsletter session in September is in full effect. 💪🏾  A few things I’ve been thinking about this week:

• What to name it

• What day/time to do the session

• Content buckets to cover

• Tools to use for registration/payment, delivering the training

Of course, part of me wants to figure everything out right this minute, but the other part knows I’m juggling this alongside a bazillion other things. And that is creating some tension. After realizing that, I had to give myself a little pep talk:

You already gave yourself some time when you announced this, saying you are doing the session in mid-September, so you have about 30 days to work on these things. You created that space, so give yourself grace and let it take the time it needs.

That reminder that I had time eased some of my anxiety.

I also remembered that I owned a training (thanks for the nudge, Saya!) about how to put together a live training, so it’s great to have a step-by-step checklist like this one:

Won’t you look at that? I can already check off the first one! 🎉.

In other news, as I was giving myself a pep talk and after being a cheerleader for someone else during a Side Hustle Day earlier in the week, it gave me an idea. 💡

And I was so excited that I thought it’d be fun to record a little audio to tell you about it:

10 Ways to Raise Your Productivity Today

Just say to yourself: “I’ll journal for 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes. If I feel like writing more, then I’ll continue. But if not, then as long as 5 minutes is up, I’m done.” Just taking a few minutes to write down what’s on your mind will help you to focus on what actually matters.

Ride your own bike

Enjoy the journey, trust the process, and try not to worry so much about what other folks are doing, even if they are on the same path.

I was happily pedaling along on the rail trail when three spandex speedsters blew by me on their handmade carbon bikes.

For a moment, I was disheartened. What’s the point–they’re speedy, I’m not.

Then I realize that it’s not a bike race, it’s a bike ride. There is no winning, just the riding.
