“It’s just one of dem days (don’t take it personal)” 🌧️ ~Monica
You don’t have to do it all on chaotic days, here’s what helps. (#421)
It’s Friday as I write this… and honestly? My day went off the rails early.
I woke up with some shoulder pain. Grandma was moody. I kept getting interrupted.
My focus? Shot.
My motivation? Not much better.
One of those dem days.
You know the ones. You know what you need to do… but life has other plans.
So here’s how I’m handling it:
Figuring out what must get done today (you’re reading one of those things!)
Focusing on the most time-sensitive tasks for work and grandma.
Breaking things down into 5–15 min chunks
Moving everything else to next week (or maybe this weekend if there’s space)
Adding an extra dose of anxiety meds - ‘cause real talk - it’s needed
I know I’m not the only one who has days like this.
Sometimes life is a lot, and the best thing we can do is honor what’s happening in that moment, reset, and give ourselves permission to do what we can.
And here’s the biggest lesson I keep coming back to on days like this:
I’m not trying to “power through” or do it all. (Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to but, sometimes I can’t…and that’s okay)
I’m asking:
What must get done today?
How can I break it down?
What can I move to next week - without guilt?
And that’s it.
Tomorrow is another day.
We’re not doing all the things.
Just the next thing. And then the next.
Progress is progress.

How do YOU approach them when they happen?
Hit reply and lemme know.
I’d love to start building a little “chaotic day” mindset list. For me and for anyone else who needs the reminder.

A few gems for your weekend scroll…
❤️🩹. I don’t always write publicly about caregiving, but I felt compelled to share this post about what it’s really like and what I wish more people understood. If it resonates, I’d love a like or share. Caregiving is hard, and I see why most of us feel so invisible. I’d love to see more conversations about it.
🎧. Loved this podcast episode on creating more ease in life and business. Denise Duffield-Thomas talks about starting with getting rid of her keys (!) and how she’s built systems and automations for the rest. It’s inspiring me to look at what I can simplify. (and if you’re curious, I’m building a playlist of helpful episodes here)
📝. If you like the idea of doing morning pages, there are a few ways to do it:
Go analog - with a notebook (here’s my favorite notebook and pen)
Take it digital - on this website
Talk it out - using this tool or your phone’s voice memo app (tip: Ev Chapman)
I’m playing with the idea of mixing them up depending on the day or the season. It all counts.

Last week was like this for me too because my computer started freezing on me :(
Focused on the important stuff - classes with students - and realized the other stuff could wait until it got fixed. My business will still be there when my tech is up & running again.
Ugh. I feel like my whole week has been like this. When I can, I'll take a nap or shower and pretend to start the day over.
