mid-year check in (#377)

Happy July! It’s wild that we’re already halfway through the year. Like many of you, I see many folks reflecting on their 2024 goals/intentions.

It inspired me to do some self-reflection using the Goodbye 2023, Hello 2024 Journal, and I feel pretty proud.

Here are a few highlights from the past couple of months:

Celebrated turning 43 and a 13-year blogiversary!! 🥳
Booked two speaking gigs (one paid!) and recorded a fantastic podcast episode about side hustles! Attending the Content Entrepreneur Expo was also a blast.
Caregiving continues to be challenging despite everything else, but I’m learning to navigate the emotions that come along with it. It was so lovely to be recognized for this role by my friends (thanks Patricia and Vanessa!).
I finally set up investment accounts with a coach and treated myself to some well-deserved fun - a comedy show, a musical (Death Becomes Her—so good), and a Sam Fischer concert!

Reflecting on everything, creating more ease remains a priority, and I’m exploring how AI can help me with that. Income streams are another focus - I’m inspired by Ruth’s $100K experiment and Low Ticket Live, leaning towards passive income options like affiliate marketing and digital products.

Looking ahead to plans for this quarter, I want to focus on:

Rocking my upcoming speaking engagements and continuing to build speaking as an income stream.
Prioritizing rest, self-care, and finding ways to create more ease in my work and life.

📺. Watching: Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. It’s a new story with a fresh group of Liars facing a new “A” who knows all their secrets. It’s a cool mix of the original PLL drama with some spooky vibes straight out of Halloween and I Know What You Did Last Summer. 👻🎃 Definitely recommend watching it during the day because there are some gore and jump-scare moments that might hit extra hard closer to bedtime.

The World Needs You to Do YOUR Thing

There’s something about you.
A quality you have, a skill you’ve refined, or a perspective you’ve honed that’s completely unique to you.
The world needs you to find it, develop it, and share it.
Don’t spend your life and career trying to figure out how to be more like other people. How to model their work, mimic their talent, and thrive in their shadow.

We need the unique things you can create and deliver. The opportunity to learn from your experiences and to access the contributions only you can offer.

Trying is always worth it.

Simply by trying - especially when nobody else is willing or able to act - you become an inspiration to everyone you meet.

Alexandra’s post about learning CPR reminds us that it’s not about failing but about taking action, even small steps. Every time we try, we inspire ourselves and others and learn lessons.
