Shout out to Christine Mortensen and Melissa Hicks for buying me coffees this past week! ☕️ Christine has been doing these rapid fire reviews in her FB Collective for women entrepreneurs all week giving feedback all on things marketing.
Melissa wears a lot of hats. She is a #MedX ePatient Scholar, she teaches, loves patient experience and research. And she's always stitching something cool, even notes!
Thank you both!

This week, I truly realized that it is possible to hold two feelings at one time. I was shocked and a bit numb to read about Chadwick Boseman's passing. 😔And to know that he had been fighting cancer for 4 hard years. I loved him in Black Panther and know what he represented in terms of a role model and representation in so many areas. It had me all up in my feelings because it's just more to add to the pile of what we are dealing with as black people, as a black woman especially.
At the same time, I was really happy to announce my new website. It felt weird to be happy and to put this out there amidst all the sadness. But it helps me to remember that especially right now, black joy matters. And this is part of my joy. And this, my online home, is a way that I feel that help the world.
I basically blew everything away that was underneath and started fresh re-importing posts and pages I wanted to keep and leaving the rest. It has the so fresh, so clean feeling. And it feels so much lighter and while the last site felt like me when I created it, this one feels even more like me, fun, approachable, and helpful.
Let me know what you think! Anddd if you run into any issues, because I definitely followed the "done > perfect" maxim and am continuing to improve and tweak on it as I go. If you're curious, the theme is called Zine Queen from Little Theme Shop. Tiffany, who is just an amazing human, was so responsive to my questions and helped me make the theme my own. And bonus (!!) she featured me in her showcase. 🥳🥳
Sad, frustrated, worried, happy, grateful. It's a lot of feelings to hold at once. But all of them are valid and it is possible to feel them all and still be you.
What feelings are you feeling right now?
On to the picks!
P.S. You're doing great.

7 Ways to Build a Community Around Your Blog — problogger.com
We were talking a bit about your squad last week and how you can join (or create) communities that are doing the same type of work you are. I've never really considered building a community around writing before but the idea of doing a challenge or project (#5) and spotlighting readers (#7) sounds like fun things to do.
