“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” 💁🏾♀️ Maya Angelou
This week I talked about the Side Hustle Generation as part of the National Urban League’s Digital Career Success Series.
It was amazing. There were over 160 attendees. My biggest audience to date! 🎉. Some comments in the chat:
Totally excellent presentation. I’m inspired to be more focused.
This was PHENOMENAL!
Love this webinar! Great points and thank you for your honesty!!!
Thank you for this webinar, Jessica! I learned so much today!
This was an excellent use of my time. Thank you.
I had a blast delivering the workshop. A friend even told me that I was totally in my element (thanks, Tiffany!). It was really awesome and gives me the itch to do more. Maybe even a mini-course of sorts. 🤔
If you want to catch the recording, you can view that here.
I’m looking forward to doing a bit of decompression, learning, and reflecting in the coming weeks. I’m working through this affiliate marketing course and this one soon. And thinking through the rest of 2021.
What do you have questions about right now? It could be about side hustles, newsletters, something else? What are you trying to accomplish before the end of the year? Hit reply and let me know. It’ll help me plan some next steps.

📚. Reading: Burnout. Just started reading this on Thursday, and I already had an aha moment about stress. Even though you may have taken care of your stressor (whatever it was that’s causing you stress), we experience burnout sometimes because we don’t fully complete our stress response cycle. Say what now? STRESS. RESPONSE. CYCLE? I’m curious to learn more about this.
📺. Watching: Nine Perfect Strangers. Haven’t watched it yet but planning to dive in this weekend. This is a series based on a book by Liane Moriarty (yep, the same author who wrote Big Little Lies). It’s about these nine folks who go to this health and wellness resort led by Masha (played by Nicole Kidman). But all is not what it seems. *Cue thriller-y music*. I remember the book being pretty good, so I’m excited to check out this series.
📝. Tool: Libby. Got a library card and want to borrow free ebooks or audiobooks? This tool has you covered and how I'm able to read Burnout right now. You are able to borrow ebooks for 21 days and you can send them to your Kindle so you can read on there.

How I answer ‘can I pick your brains for free’ messages — ruthxo.com
We can all learn from how Ruth handles requests for free coaching. She has included an email template you can steal. As I do some planning for the future, I like this idea of directing folks to a pick my brain type of service.
“I also LOVE protecting my time, energy and mental health so I like to make sure things feel like an EXCHANGE rather than just one person giving and just one person receiving (on either side).”
