"The progress you are making matters so much more than you know." π ~Morgan Harper Nichols
IT IS DECEMBER! π€― I'm feeling that urge to finish the year strong again, but love L'Oreal's reminder:
Don't let anyone bully you into "finishing the year strong." It's enough to simply finish.
I am feeling so torn between doing the most (I signed up for this and this) and being TIRED. This has been A YEAR. And as much as we want them to, things won't magically get better when the clock strikes midnight into 2021. Now don't me wrong. There are some great things coming: vaccines, new administration, and all of the "new, feel good" vibes that come with any new year.
In the meantime, though, we gotta focus on taking care of ourselves. I always get this reminder in the form of burnout or sickness and then I have to rest and prioritize self-care again because I have no choice. Whyyy am I like this? π«. Sure I have gotten better at resting and adding some self-care activities to my days (LEGOs, reading, Jane the Virgin). And I think that's the point right? Even though I have not solved the puzzle of resting as much as I should, I have gotten better. And that's the goal.
Looking back at where I was this time last year, I have become more self compassionate, do more in terms of self-care, and even have created more space to simply be "good enough". That's growth. And I am super duper proud of that. π
How about you? Where were you at this time last year? Compare it to where you are now. Where have you made changes? What have you accomplished? In what areas have you gotten better or grown?
Carry that energy and those vibes with you as you plan out the last few weeks of the year.
Instead of finishing the year strong, how about we finish the year proud? π₯³
On to the picks!

π§ Listening: 2020 Wrapped. If you are a Spotify listener, check out your musical year in review if you haven't already. I've already been moving and grooving along to my Top Songs of 2020 playlist this week. Who is your top artist? Mine is Meghan Trainor (probably because of this song)!
π§ Tool: Tempo. They bill themselves as "the email client that helps you focus." And it does the one thing that I really love: batching. You essentially set times to get batches of email (like 8am, 12pm, 4pm) and then you can review all of the emails in one go. I love it and hate it at the same time. I can't tell you how many times I've forced a batch - which completely defeats the purpose. π€¦πΎββοΈ I'm on the free trial right now so I'm not sure if I will become a subscriber ($12/month or $120/yr) but thinking about it. π€
πΊ Watching: Defending Jacob. Chris Evans as an Assistant District Attorney who then has to help defend his son who has been accused of killing a fellow classmate. INTENSE and nail-biting for sure but I enjoyed it for the most part. π€― I saw the end and had sooo many questions. Still do. Have you watched it? Let's discuss!

Side Hustlers & Entrepreneurs: Here's Why to Stop Putting So Much Pressure on Yourselves β 30seconds.com
I wrote this quick tip on 30seconds.com two years ago about how hard it is being a side hustler and how we shouldn't put so much pressure on ourselves.
"On the days where you are not able to get everything done, be gentle with yourself. And remember tomorrow is another day."
I need to follow my own advice more, eh?
