"The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear." 🤫~Rumi
Thank you all so much for the feedback and sharing of last week's videos. If you missed it, I shared a few videos of lessons I've learned running #jesspicks for the past four years along with my process and things I pay attention to. And based on your kind words, I'm thinking of putting them all together in a mini-course of sorts.
This past week has been really hard in terms of focus. Aside from all the things going on in the world, it's been a rough week on the caregiving side. A couple nights with around 3-4 hours of sleep is hard speaking as someone who functions better on at least 7. It's also getting close to the end of the year so I'm feeling like I have a little devil on one side saying ramp up to finish the year strong 💪🏾, while the angel on the other side is saying slowwww downnnn. 😴
Which shoulder will win? 👼🏾😈 It's a pressure-cooker! 😆
Are you feeling any of that? I feel like this is the time of the year where experts and gurus are talking about planning and goals for 2021 and doing year in reviews for 2020. But also we are moving into the holidays, while dealing with a pandemic that seems to be getting worse.
This year we've had to deal with a lot and I don't see that slowing down any time soon. So as you make plans for end of year just really try to listen to that inner voice and see what they are saying. What would feel right for you? What is a good way for you to honor your accomplishments for the year and make plans for next year? What would future you want you to do?
For me, I'm thinking there will be some happy medium. Finishing the year strong might mean wrapping up some things I've wanted to do and reflecting on the year, while starting to think about goals for next year.
How about you? You going strong or planning to slow down? How can I help? Hit reply and let me know.
On to the picks!
P.S. One thing on my before-the-end-of-year list is a tips guide for side hustlers and I would love to feature YOU. If you are interested in being featured, email me your best advice on starting/running/managing a side hustle. I'll pick the best bits of wisdom (along with your name and website) and include it in the guide.

🎧Listening: How to grow to 10k, niching down, and top subscriber sources. As I think about 2021, the newsletter will continue to be a major focus for me, so I'm looking forward to this Newsletter Crew episode with Josh Spector. He covers how to grow from 0 to 1k (and from 1k to 10K) subscribers, newsletter resources and more.
📓 Tool: Readwise. This is a fun tool that lets you revisit your reading highlights. You can sync up your Kindle account or iBooks account and they'll send you an email every day featuring your highlights. It's a good way to review quotes that you loved from books you read years ago. Use my link to get an extra 30 days free.
📺 Watching: Animaniacs. If the phrase "hellooo nurse" means anything to you, join me and watch the rebooted cartoon all about the Warner Brothers (and their sister Dot) on Hulu. And then you can go back and watch the original episodes from the 90s. Gotta find joy where we can find it!

Stop Worrying About Missed Habits — dariusforoux.com
Every day is a new day that has nothing to do with yesterday.
Wow - missing a habit for even one day is tough. I've done this a lot recently. Especially this week - my morning routine did not happen on any of the days.😕
Darius Foroux tells us why streaks can do more harm than good, and how it's actually more important to stay in the present moment. Start each day with a clean slate.
The 3 questions you need to answer to finish 2020 with aplomb (and a happy wave goodbye!) — pamelaslim.com
Pam Slim realizes that most of us are "wiped out" and don't need more things to add to our 2020 to-do list. But she has some great questions you can think about as you close out the year. #2 is what made me add the P.S. up above.
1, What is the one existing offer that you want to market for the rest of the year?
2, Which half-built bridges do you want to complete before the year is over?
3. How will you calm your nervous system and care for yourself as the year comes to a close?
I think if you can take some time and think about these questions it'll put you in a great headspace for planning the rest of the year in a way that works for you.
