“We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to-do’ list.” 💞 ~Michelle Obama
Happy August!
This is a month of slowing down. It may just be me, but I’ve been feeling very low energy and unmotivated for the past couple of weeks.
It could be because caregiving has been challenging, leading to some sleep debt that needs recovery. But, on the other hand, there are many little changes in my world, and I need extra energy to process and get caught up with those.
It could be that my cup is just not getting full enough for the energy I need. And I’ve fallen out of step with things that recharge me, like reading, working on puzzles, taking my vitamin D consistently, and prioritizing other forms of rest.
Did you know there are seven different types of rest? (Every time I hear that my mind is 🤯).
The universe is also sending me several nudges related to gratitude and simplicity. So I think it’s time to slow down and listen.
Here are a few questions I will be sitting with over the next few weeks (or maybe months):
How can I better appreciate where I am in my journey and focus on the good things?
What are things I can do to invite more simplicity and ease into my life? (This goes back to the guiding principle I set at the beginning of the year of doing less, better.)
What other forms of rest besides sleep might I need to prioritize?

How is your August going so far? Where might you need to focus for the next few weeks?

📺. Watching: The Man from Toronto. This action comedy with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson was so funny. I was pleasantly surprised, even though I didn’t know what to expect.
🎧. Listening: Shine. I haven’t opened this app in a long time, but I needed to listen to the meditations this week to find more ways to ground myself. It’s part meditation, part podcast. And it’s meant to be a self-care sidekick, complete with retellings of popular movies to help you fall asleep.

How To Free Up Two Hours In Your Day — fortheinterested.com
“The best way to do that is to look at the activities you spend most of your time doing and figure out how you can shave a little bit of time off of them.”
I like this approach to freeing up time, especially the suggestions of spending less time on emails and setting aside time for social media. Where can you grab 15 minutes a few times in your day? You can use the extra time to work on your side hustle! 😉
