I dropped some knowledge recently... (#317)
Happy March! I did some recent appearances that I’d love to share this week:
1. Side Hustles & Career
It was great catching up with a long-time friend and being featured on her #EpicWomen podcast about side hustles. We talked about managing time and prioritizing tasks, support systems, how to handle setbacks, and lessons learned along the way.
2. Advice for Aspiring Black Creators
I was featured in this reel alongside other amazing black creators in this advice compilation done by Google for Creators. (Also, I did a video and didn’t die. 🤩💪🏾)
3. Side Hustle vs. Full-Time
There is often a question of whether you should be a full-time or side hustle creator. You might know my position on this. 😉 And I defended it during this fun debate with full-time creator Cody Jay, hosted by Creator Wizard.
(tl;dr: neither is right or wrong. It’s about finding the option that works best for you.)
In other news, last week’s poll was illuminating:
So to answer that last point, Substack Chat allows newsletter writers to create a community among their readers. So I can create posts (or threads for discussion), and then you can read, chime in with your thoughts, and meet others.
I plan to post 2-4 chats monthly, maybe on Wednesdays. I am still figuring that part out. But based on the above poll results, I won’t email you about them for now.
If you want to be notified about new chats, download the Substack app, and you’ll get notified there once new issues are published and new discussions are posted. Or click the button below, and it’ll get you set up.
Here are a couple of recent ones, so you can check them out and add to the conversation:

🎧. Listening: Side Hustla! Playlist. I created a playlist for us that it’s a mix of inspirational, upbeat, go-after-your-dreams-type songs. And I just saw that it has 60 likes this week!
📚. Reading: My Week with ChatGPT. Love this day-by-day replay of how Seema uses ChatGPT in her business. (She even used it to help her name / promote her ChatGPT product. How meta, right?) AI tools are only as good as the prompts you give them, and she has given me so many ideas for using them. Especially as there are ways to train the tools to help you get the output you need. I’ve only spent time going through the first two days, but I have already learned so much.

Entrepreneur: Brianna Chandler
Biz: Elevate Signature Travel
A few tidbits:
Brianna is a luxury travel advisor and curates unique itineraries for her clients. She also helps solo travelers connect with small groups to get a wonderful trip and meet new friends.
Her first dollar came from her aunt, who traveled to Mexico in February. 💪🏾
She found a training program that has helped her combat the fear, uncertainty, and overwhelm that can come along on this journey. In addition, she recommends finding a community for anyone starting a side hustle.
Learn more about Brianna’s love of travel and how it turned into a side hustle.

100 ways to slightly improve your life without really trying
This is an oldie but goodie. Here are a few of my faves:
For instant cheer, wear yellow. (this does work!)
Learn how to breathe deeply (this one is one I need to work on - I’m a chest breather.)
Stretch in the morning. And maybe in the evening. (I have been doing more of this after spending more than a year in physical therapy from neck/shoulder strain)
Always be willing to miss the next train. (this also is a reminder to me to slow down)
Which of these do you like?
