Remember how I mentioned last week that I was tired but also wanted to do all the things? Well, those two challenges I signed up for only saw me participate for the first day. 🤣Sorry, not sorry?
But I did feel pretty bad by day three and mentioned my failure to my friend Brandy. To which she responded, "there is no need to rush." And I immediately felt a weight lifted. I thought, "She is right. There is no need to rush. The content will still be there. I can do the work later. For now, I can give myself a break."
Wow. 😅Right? Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves and don't even realize it. That permission she gave me helped me to slow down and relax. And once I had that space for myself, I realized that there is one course in particular that I really want to focus on for the next 3-6 months and that's where I should be spending my time. It's all about learning how to play bigger based on this book if you are curious.
That realization got me thinking about winding down 2020 and 2021 goals. And if you read any blogger right now, they are most likely talking about how to reflect on 2020 and set goals (and words) for 2021. Or they are explaining their annual review process and how you can do the same. Some of those templates break my brain 🤯if I'm being honest and seem so overwhelming.
So I decided to take the questions that helped me the most and create my own planning guide for 2021. And then I thought how about I make this into a template and share! 🤩
Here it is: the Side Hustler 2021 Planning Guide
It's in Dropbox Paper (think Google Docs for Dropbox), so you can sign in to your Dropbox account, and click on "create doc" to work on your own copy. Right now, I am only sharing it with #jesspicks subscribers but am planning to add it to my course tool in the next week or two. Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues.
As I'm realizing that slowing down is the right move for me, I've decided that this issue is the last #jesspicks issues of the year. I'll be taking a three-week break to rest, recharge, and reflect. This year has been really awesome for me as a newsletter creator and I could not have done that without your support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with me.
I hope that you can give yourself permission to slow down, reflect, and to celebrate all that you did this year. It is not easy building something of your own and there are often daily reminders to quit. But please remember that your creations, your services, your products, your perspectives - they matter. And there are folks out there just waiting for your greatness.
Have a wonderful holiday season. See you in 2021! 💖

🎧 Listening: evermore. Taylor Swift has released another album - so that's two in one year. 😲 I must admit I haven't really listened to her new music lately but digging this latest magic. Current fave: gold rush.
📆 Resource: 25 Days of Deals. My friend Kimi has this amazing advent calendar full of free and low-cost programs for your business. And there are still days that have not been revealed yet. Check it out!
📺 Watching: The Flight Attendant. Girl, that drinks a lot, wakes up to find the guy next to her dead. Cue all the shenanigans. Only two episodes in so far, but I am a fan.

Six Word Memoirs — www.zingcollaborative.com
Last week the Zing Collaborative Community shared their Six-Word Memoirs from 2020. What a cool idea for a way to reflect on the year. These are amazing. If I had to create one, I would say...
"Challenging, but I rediscovered my resilience."
What would your six-word memoir for 2020 be?
Hell Yeah Or No: What’s Worth Doing — joshspector.com
I am here for anything Derek Sivers writes - he is the first one that said when it comes to doing something, it's either a "hell yeah" or a no.
Josh Spector recently read Derek's "Hell Yeah Or No" book - which is definitely going on my to-read list - and summarized his favorite excerpts.
"Do something for love and something for money. Don’t try to make one thing satisfy your entire life."
Some great thoughts to take with you into the new year.
