reasons to smile... (#378)
Last week’s mid-year reflection was really helpful. As I was doing some planning for this week in particular, the first thing on my priority list was: “get better.” Grandma and I had been sick for what felt like forever but turned a corner this week. We are still not 100%, but we will win. 💪🏾
Note: If you are in mid-year reflection mode,
you might find this post and related worksheet helpful.
Now, back to work (slowly). I was pretty excited to listen to a few of the Low Ticket Live trainings over the past few days. After a few sessions, I was even more inspired to figure out my low-ticket offer strategy. So, I upgraded to the Get it Done week to see if I could work on a $9 offer next week. 🤞🏾 It’s an ambitious timeline, but I hope some stars will align. Wish me luck!
It’s also been a bit overwhelming on the caregiving and work front, but I can often find calm by focusing on gratitude. Here are some things that made me smile this week:
Relief from some work stuff that’s felt particularly heavy for quite a while now. Relatedly, I work with an incredibly supportive and awesome group of people. So grateful for them.
This lovely shout-out in Remarkable Women Who are “Killing It” in Their Own Unique Ways (thanks Purse Strings!! 😭💖)
4 words: Honey. Lavender. Iced. Coffee. 😋 I don’t do iced coffee. Your girl does hot coffee year-round, even on 100-degree days. But lemme tell you, this drink was incredible. I ordered it twice this week!
Chatting with one of my mini pep talk clients.
Working on a presentation for my next speaking engagement - and including a “plot twist” slide.
Bestie brunch. Need I say more?
Dance class, singing with no one listening, playing with a new AI tool, and celebrating a year since I started Invisalign.
A DM from one of my friends/clients
and a podcast episode she recently recorded sharing her experiences working with me across three of my offers! She called it “the #jesspicks effect.” 🥹🫶🏾
What is something that made you smile this week?
On to the picks!
P.S. For my fellow affiliate marketers, the big news I’ve seen from a few folks this week is that Amazon now lets you include affiliate links in emails (!!), which was a big no-no until recently.
Note: This email may contain affiliate links. If you click through my link and make a purchase, I may receive “thank you money” at no additional cost. I only recommend products that I use and love.

📺. Watching: Nancy Drew. The girl detective series that aired on the CW. But darker - think ghosts and all kinds of supernatural happenings. It is such a good show, and even with a mystery to solve every episode, season two, in particular, has a compelling storyline around anxiety and depression. These are characters you become friends with and root for. I am watching the last season and am drawing it out in a big way because I don’t want to say goodbye to the Drew Crew.
💡. Activity: Ideal Day Chatbot. Take a few minutes and answer some questions about what an ideal day looks like for you one year from now. I found this process insightful when I first did it, and I have the answers returned to me every couple of months or so. It is a good reminder of the life that I’m trying to build.

Realigning priorities…when you feel out of whack
What I love about
’ article, she shares her priority list and talks about how she uses her calendar to shift back into alignment. It was helpful for me to create my own priority list as well. Here goes…
myself (my physical/mental health and my self-care)
grandma (her health and anything urgent/time-sensitive that's caregiving-related)
work (my job)
community (my friends and family)
biz (my side hustle)
Also, because my work and business are remote, flexibility in my schedule helps me manage my other commitments.

How I Decide if I Will Unsubscribe From a Newsletter
I often have seasons where some newsletters I’ve subscribed to don’t make sense for me/my biz anymore. I love
’s thought process/list of questions for deciding to unsubscribe:
Did I enjoy this email?
If not, did I enjoy any of the previous 5 emails from this publisher?
If not, is the format easy to consume?
If not, do I know and like the publisher?
If not, unsubscribe!
