Last week, I wasn’t able to rally. It was an overwhelming week, and by the time Friday came, I couldn’t summon the energy to put together a newsletter issue I could be happy with.
So I emailed the sponsor booked for that day, apologized, and let them know that I wouldn’t be sending an issue along with sending them a refund. It wasn’t my finest moment, and I felt a lot of guilt. I still do. But ultimately, I’d rather skip a week than put together an issue when my heart wasn’t truly in it.
Sometimes we miss sending newsletters, have to cancel appointments, and say no to opportunities we would have jumped at in the past. It’s hard, but I think it’s part of understanding what we can handle at any given moment and honoring our capacity. And it may not seem like it, but it’s a sign of growth.
With the highs of entrepreneurship, there are also lows. By sharing some of my lows, I hope you know that it’s OK to have them. It can be hard out here when all we see are the good things. This journey ebbs and flows like anything else.
I feel a little better this week, but I realize this season is a bit weird as things are changing in a few areas, calling on me to find comfort in what I’m calling “the messy middle.” All while taking steps to heal my neck and shoulder. So I think a big realization for me is acknowledging that a lot is going on and re-adjusting some things.
Grace and rest (and probably the occasional one-armed dance break) will get me through. And taking that step back is necessary as it’ll give me some space and clarity to find a new rhythm moving forward.
On to the picks!

📚. Reading: The High 5 Habit: Take Control of Your Life with One Simple Habit. Thanks to this book, I’ve been high-fiving myself in the mirror for the past six days, and I don’t want to say it’s made a difference. It may be too soon to tell. But I smile at myself in the mirror now. That has to be setting the tone for a good day, right?
📺. Watching. Scream. 😱 After last week’s overwhelm, I needed a distraction. What can distract you better than a funny horror movie? Since the beginning, I have been a Scream fan, and it was fun having a marathon of all the films (including the most recent one). I watched them with the lights on in the daytime, but it was still a scary, fun time. And rumor has it, a Scream 6 is coming. 😱
🧳. Tool: Side Hustle Tools and Resources. Curious about what I use to manage all my business and life things? This page is top of mind as I plan to review and possibly make some updates while going through the updated Lazy Guide to Affiliate Marketing course.

A wonderful reminder from Tim Denning:
“You already know more about your purpose than you realize. And that’s because your purpose is simply the meaning that you decide to attach to each day.”

“One of the most interesting benefits of submitting your newsletter to a directory is the passive growth you’ll receive. Do the work of submitting your newsletter once, get passive subscribe growth forever. Every weekly you’ll slowly grow from this channel without needing to think twice.”
Newsletter directories are a great way to start passively building your subscriber base. I recommend this list to folks often as it’s one of the most comprehensive list of directories I’ve seen. So take a few 15-minute sessions and submit your newsletter to these directories.
