“How are you feeling REALLY?”This question pops up as a calendar reminder for me every afternoon because sometimes I need a little nudge to check in with my body, emotions, and mental stuff.Life can get pretty busy as an employee, entrepreneur, and creator. I’m also a caregiver, family member, friend, dance class regular, and living, breathing human. This midday reminder encourages me to check in with myself and see what I might need at that moment. It might be moving some tasks around, shifting priorities, or even taking a break. Sometimes I realize I haven’t eaten and am getting dangerously close to being totally hangry 😱. Schedules are a great foundation with so many hats to wear, but flexibility is essential. Sometimes, one of my roles takes more time, energy, or emotional space than I had planned, meaning it’s time to shuffle my plans and expectations. For example, some weeks, I can get this newsletter drafted by Wednesday. On other weeks, I work on it late into Friday evening. And some weeks, it just may not happen. That doesn’t have to mean anything about me. It doesn’t make me a lesser employee or entrepreneur. I don’t have to hand in my Side Hustle Cheerleader card. Personally, I like to think it means I care about myself enough to keep my expectations reasonable and my self-care high on my list of priorities. How are you feeling, really? Do you need more space for you?Over this next week, I’d love for you to check in with yourself and honor your needs as best you can. They are a priority too. 💖On to the picks!
