"Even when it feels uncomfortable, grow." π ~Lalah Delia
I am feeling a little better this week. A few things that have helped:
π± Texting with my Talkspace therapist about all the things.
π΄ Resting when I need to. Naps are seriously under-rated.
π Starting the day with morning pages. I'm doing this on 750words.com right after making my coffee thanks to this article.
π Exercising. Even if it's only 7 minutes. It's good for PT-ing my ankle but also for my mental health.
βπΎ Getting off the computer by 7pm at night.
(sidenote: there are a lot of 7s in that section π)
Overall I feel less overwhelmed by everything than I have in some time. And that's such a welcome feeling that I intend to just enjoy it.
In other news, my friend Christine posed an interesting question on LinkedIn:
"What can you do today that β come January β youβll thank yourself for?"
Coincidentally enough, for the past couple of weeks, I have been thinking about how I want to finish out the year.
This newsletter has been such an amazing part of my life over the past four years and I want to continue growing it and improving it. Ultimately I want to make it the primary focus of my side hustle. That feels like the right move for me.
On that note, I could use your help as I'm looking towards the future:
Can you take 30 seconds and answer this 2.5 question survey?
It'll go a long way in helping me think through what's next for #jesspicks, which my January self will thank me for. π
What can YOU do for your January self?
On to the picks!
P.S. If you're curious, I found the survey tool (Curious Karen) in the Startup Resources newsletter. Super easy and fun to create.

π Reading: A Spell for Trouble: An Enchanted Bay Mystery. Alex goes to visit her estranged aunt and cousins and she sense that something is a little bit, um magical, but is not sure. Then a murder happens. Dun dun dun. I'm only about a third of the way through it but I'm liking it so far.
πΊ Watching:Β The Descendants. Earlier this week, instead of watching the debate, I watched this Disney+ movie. If you're not familiar, it follows the story of the children of some of the famous Disney villains. Purple hair. Great music and dance routine. Just fun and lightness all around.
π° Tool:Β Digit. I received a reminder earlier this week that $80 has been moved to my new IRA account. Yay for retirement savings. Digit helps me adult by pulling $1 here or $2 there to build a rainy day fund. I am also using it to help me funnel money away towards credit card and phone bills. Great saving sidekick. Get $5 to get started.

15 Ideas You Can Steal to Make the Next 12 Months a Period of Remarkable Growth β medium.com
Tim Denning shares several ideas you can start today. My favorites are being a content creator and writing your thoughts down. Even just the past few days of doing morning pages is just so good for my brain. There are 13 other ideas if you are looking for inspiration.
"Make a list. What would you never dare do? Could you do it for 60 seconds?"
100 Things To Publish In The Next 100 Days To Grow Your Audience β medium.com
This is an older post but a good one from Josh Spector. He presents a great content framework that you can use to write longer pieces (signature content) and share ideas from those on social media along with curated content. Which then may inspire your next piece of signature content. And the content wheel will keep turning.
"An audience isnβt the number of people who consume your creations β itβs the number of people you can reach with your NEXT creation."
