“Focusing on your progress sets you up for more progress.” ~Daily Shine
“I honor my progress today and every day.” That was the ending mantra in Thursday’s Daily Shine. And I can’t tell you how much I needed to hear that message.Often we get to the end of the day and focus on the things we could not check off our to-do list. And maybe even beat ourselves up about it. This mantra encourages us to celebrate what we accomplished. No matter how big or small. Here are a few things I’m happy to have done this week:👩🏾🏫 Led an #IamRemarkable workshop hosted by Mox.E Chicago🧹 Did some digital organization and cleaned up my emails and bookmarks. 📧 Unsubscribed to a bunch of newsletters that no longer serve me.🙅🏾♀️ Said no to a few opportunities that I probably would have said yes to in the past.😴 Went to bed around 9 pm each night to give me more time to rest. What’s on this week’s done list for you? What progress can you honor and celebrate? On to the picks!P.S. Is there a question I can answer for you in an upcoming issue of #jesspicks? Hit reply and let me know. I think it could be fun to do an “Ask Jess” column of sorts. ❓ Note: This email may contain affiliate links. 🪄 Tool: Grammarly. I love how Grammarly is like this little spelling, grammar genie in my pocket that’s like, “Hey Jess, you forgot to add a word here and a comma there. And hey, did you mean for this tone to sound weird?” 😂
📺 Watching: Jasmine Gardens Inspiration - advice from your Fairy God Sis. This is GOLD - shout out to my coach Mel McSherry for sharing in the She Profits Community.
🎧. Listening: Say these 3 words if someone asks you to work for free. This episode from Jon Acuff is so good. Spoiler alert: the three words are “What’s your budget?” He also gives you some advice on handling the answer to that question.

Five After Hours Habits to Help You Build a Tiny Empire, Quietly — entrepreneurshandbook.co
Tim Denning talks about this idea of tiny creators - most of them building their projects on the side, like us. He suggests some habits you can add to your schedule to start building your tiny empire:
Produce overly simple content (you can start with Twitter)
Daydream like Archimedes (in the shower or while doing dishes)
Document a process end to end for fun (share this with others!)
Schedule new directions in your calendar (if something is not in my calendar, it’s not real)
Find your $20 habit (this one has got me thinking...🤔)
The 7 Types of Rest You Need to Actually Feel Recharged — advice.theshineapp.com
Ummm, so this post is telling me I need to do more than just sleep to recharge. Of course, that counts as physical rest, but there are six other types 😱 (mental, social, creative, spiritual, emotional, sensory).
“If your deficit is in mental rest, you might have trouble with concentration. If you have an emotional deficit, you may find you’re snapping at your spouse and they haven’t done anything.”
Once you know where you might be feeling a deficit, you can figure out the type of rest you need.
