This is not another one of those GDPR emails. Or is it?? 😜 To be honest, I am one of those people who was really panicking about this whole thing and the looming deadline in a few hours. My friend Loralee Hutton shared this amazing live video that her friend Claire Mahon (who is a lawyer) did to demystify some of the myths of GDPR especially for side hustlers, bloggers and micro-businesses like ours.  What I found most helpful? Claire saying that "The world is not gonna stop if you don’t put your privacy policy on your webpage by Friday." At that moment, I let out a breath of relief that I didn't even realize I was holding. Claire also suggests that we consider our levels of risk as that will affect our approach to compliance.I've included those resources below so that you can check them out and create your plan if you haven't already. My current plan for compliance includes:Really understanding where and how I'm collecting data through my site or email lists, reviewing whether it's necessary.Creating a Privacy Policy for my site that includes easy to understand language.Continuing to read about GDPR and how I can make sure my user data is properly disclosed, protected and safe. Will those things be done by Friday? No, but they are definitely top of mind for me going forward. So get a good night's sleep and rock GDPR day aka Friday and I'll be back on Saturday with another mini #jesspicks issue.
