“Just keep me where the light is.” ✨~John Mayer
Because life’s allowed to be easier. And lighter.(#434)
Last week, I asked what you’d do if you had more time and energy. Most folks said: take better care of myself.
Saaaaaame. When you’re juggling all the things, self-care feels like “one more thing” you don’t have time for.
But what if it wasn’t about adding more?
What if it was about removing the little things that drain you every day?
K is for Keyless 🔑✨
(aka: finding your own version of ease)
I first heard this from Denise Duffield-Thomas, who talks about living a “keyless life.”
The idea is simple: instead of fixing yourself, fix your environment.
She used to constantly lose her keys. Not sometimes. Always. So she made everything keyless: her car, her garage, her front door. Problem solved.
And it made me wonder: how many tiny frictions do we just accept because “that’s how it is”…when actually, we could make it easier?
Here’s what going keyless can look like as a side hustler:
Business:
Save templates for emails, posts, or client replies (so you’re not starting from scratch every time) .
Put subscriptions on autopay. Bonus: annual plans usually save you money.
Keep chargers everywhere. Seriously. One for your bag, desk, and couch.
Life:
Grocery pickup or meal delivery.
Subscriptions for the basics you always run out of (toilet paper, paper towels)
Wrinkle-free clothes (or this wrinkle spray I use)
Less friction = more energy left for what matters.
As Denise puts it:
It’s allowed to be easy. It’s allowed to be chilled. You’re allowed to have convenience and ease.
Creating ease isn’t selfish or lazy. It’s what helps you keep going.
—
🧪 Your experiment this week:
Notice one thing that annoys you on repeat. Then… keyless it.
Always hunting for the right charger? Order a backup.
Forgetting to restock something? Put it on subscription.
Answering the same client question? Save a template.
One tiny tweak means one less thing draining your energy.
—
💬 Over to you: What’s one small thing you could make keyless this week? Automate, outsource, or eliminate so you don’t have to think about it again.
On to the picks!
P.S. Self-care isn’t always bubble baths and manicures. Sometimes it’s just making your Tuesday morning a little less annoying.

Keeping it keyless (less friction, more ease!)
📚. Books that remind me it’s allowed to be easier:
Chill and Prosper by Denise Duffield-Thomas: Practical and full of “permission slips”. One of my go-to reads.
The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi: The mantra: be “a genius about what matters and lazy about what doesn’t.” 🙌🏾
Time Anxiety by Chris Gullebeau. I’m reading this now, and it feels written for anyone who’s tired of feeling behind. It’s not about cramming more in but easing the pressure and letting “good enough” be enough.
📰 Posts worth a peek:
7 Unusual But Effective Ways to Work Smarter, Not Harder: Fun little tweaks to make the juggle lighter. My favorite tip: listening to the same song on repeat while working. (It weirdly works!)
Make Mondays Automatic: Decide once about meals, outfits, or routines and save that Monday energy for what actually matters.

You know this is my jam!!! I can't even bring myself to write anything because... EVERYTHING! 😂
Off the top of my head, text expansion all day every day for things like --

And having multiple sets of stuff I need on the go -- travel; gym; coffeehouse. A la toiletries, chargers, cords, earphones. So I never forget what I need because I forgot to put it in the right bag. It's always in the right bag.
PS: I'm always mind-blown that password management is such a struggle for people. If they don't have a password manager, why not?!?!?, and if they do, where is the struggle?!?! Especially since cost and difficulty don't seem to be factors to me. I mean, $0 - $10 a year + simple usability. I'm in the dark! Ha... maybe I should offer a free consulting session to a password struggler in exchange for me laboratorying their brain (and obvs, getting a raving testimonial + share RE my consulting services). Hmmmmm.... 🤔
I did this just this week. My husband and son turn on lights all over the house, even in broad daylight, but they NEVER turn them off. So I bought motion sensors for the most used lights.
