"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." ~Charles R. Swindoll
I had a great birthday weekend! I got to experience Chuck E. Cheese for the first time ever. Verdict? I probably would have liked it as a kid. As an adult, not so much. Not a #jesspicks at all. But my 7-year old cousin enjoyed it and that was the goal. And I did get to spin the wheel and throw some footballs so there's that. 😆
Birthday brunch with my girls was everything I expected and more. 🥂 My sister even got me the cutest tiara to wear. We went to Beatrix (also a first time) and I enjoyed waffles, turkey bacon, and a mimosa. Also, caramel pie which was a truly delightful experience. The theme of my gifts? Self-care. Pajamas, coloring books, bath and body awesomeness and a bracelet for healing. My peeps know me well. 💆🏽♀️
This marks the end of my third week at the new job. Some things are starting to click! It's such a great feeling when that happens. I was able to moderate a hiring panel, do some one-on-ones and I taught my first workshop. All good things. I'm constantly reminding myself that the overwhelm is normal, not everything I do will be perfect the first time (because it's all new) and I'll find my rhythm eventually.
On to the picks for the week!
P.S. I'm doing a networking event on Monday with some other cool entrepreneurs in the Chicago area. If you are free, come on out. I'd love to see you!

This is Why You Need to Start a Side Hustle (and a Few Reasons Why You Shouldn’t) — medium.com
Side hustles are a great way to grow your network. It's definitely been the case for me which has led me to my last two jobs. I like how Larry also talks about why you shouldn't start a side hustle if your day job is already demanding. Food for thought.
