Shout out to Lindsay Griffith and Jennifer Edgcomb for buying me coffees! ☕️ Jennifer is my fabulous BeMoved dance teacher and she's moved her sessions online. Check her out. Lindsay Griffith is a fellow Lighthouse Squad mate, who is an amazing writer and teacher and volunteer. She helps host birthday parties for kids, dog tea parties, and more! --This week has been busy! First of all, Kamala!!! 🙌🏾 I don't get too much into politics in this space, but I just wanted to mention the #blackgirlmagic of it all. It is amazing to see a Black/Asian/American woman as VP on the presidential ticket. Think about how many women and girls will be inspired by this no matter how November turns out. That representation matters. And it will pave the way for more women of color. In other news, I didn't even realize it but I scheduled two podcast interviews to happen the same week. Not very #SemiSabbatical of me, but at least they're done and both will be out sometime in September. 🎧One of the things we chatted about was myths and misconceptions about side hustles. Here is one in particular that I often get on my proverbial soapbox about:Side hustles need to become full-time hustles. I don't believe this anymore. I used to but that's because there is this pressure to take them full-time. And judge-y eyes when you don't. But there are those of us out here who love our day jobs (and frankly appreciate having benefits) and are happy to keep our side thing a side thing. So if you've been wanting to start a side hustle or have one and don't want to take it full time, that's OK! You don't have to. You get to define what success looks like. There are definitely some more myths and misconceptions like one my gurl Christine mentioned, that there has to be an insane amount of hustle if you have a side hustle. I am not a fan of hustle culture or #teamnosleep vibes. I think it is totally possible to have a side hustle you love that fits within your life while still rocking it at your full time job and getting your required amount of sleep. What are some other myths or misconceptions you would add to the list? I think this is a blog post in the making. The Gather the People Instagram class is moving right along as well. This week we started thinking through project ideas that address our needs and wants along with how we could put "a flag in the ground" and start sharing our projects with other people. Projects I'm thinking about are a side hustle ebook or a course or some type of challenge, but I'm still noodling on that. I like those but wonder if there is a better project out there that I can do. 🤔 Are you participating in the class too? Would love to know what you've come up with so far.On to the picks!P.S. You're doing great. 💖
