"Turn your wounds into wisdom." π₯΄~Oprah
Shout out to Brandy Morris for buying me a coffee. She's awesome and is currently offering her famous Brilliance Briefings for free. She really helped me nail down mine in helping side hustlers with their first steps. ππΎ

Shortly after sending the last issue, I fell and managed to fracture my ankle in two places! π€¦πΎββοΈ It's about as painful as you can probably imagine. So this week has been a mix of elevating my ankle, getting used to walking with crutches (it's harder than I thought) and going to a bunch of follow-up appointments. Surgery is my only option to fix it so that is tentatively scheduled for next Friday assuming all my pre-op tests come back clear. π€πΎ
So I guess the universe is forcing me to slow down, take a break and let myself be supported. I tried to do a little bit of work this week but honestly even hobbling to the kitchen takes sooo much of my energy that I've been prioritizing rest as much as I can. And as much as. I want to do them, some things just have to wait. And I'm learning that that's OK.
I did manage to do the I Can't: Side Hustle workshop with Saya Hillman from my couch. And that was essentially a side hustle party! I was able to share my journey, tips and tricks for getting started. And me and Saya tag-teamed all the questions and it was such a great time. Saya summed up the night so much better than I could and it includes her fabulous visual note-taking skills. So even if you missed the workshop, you can get some great tidbits out of it.
That + an amazing card from my awesome &yet coworkers + all the reach outs from people asking how they can support me right now has been so incredible. π
All in all, I am trying to stay positive. I'm glad this is happening now while I am working from home and can recover without too much of a disruption from the routine I'm used to. Sure, it's another new adventure, but if my track record tells me anything, it's that I can get through this too.
On to the picks!

How βweirdβ schedules can help you get more done working remotely β www.fastcompany.com
I do like how some of these people make the whole working remotely thing work for them. And doing the 9-5 schedule is not the only option. Food for thought for me for sure. π€
The Art of Saying βNoβ β www.shondaland.com
My gurl L'Oreal has her first article over on Shondaland and it talks all about saying no. I have gotten better at this but still struggle so much. Definitely worth a read and she shares a 7-question framework you can use to decide if something should be a yes or a no.
βIt is always important to remember that your no can be equally, if not more valuable than your yes.β
A New Content Strategy Framework, Based on Personality Type β marketingpersonalities.com
If you struggle to put out content (ππΎββοΈespecially when it comes to my blog content), how about thinking about it in terms of you and your personality. The questions you ask yourselves may surprise you.
For me, as a Sentinel type, my content should be focused around what questions my audience is asking and what they need.
