"You are where you are meant to be." ππΎββοΈ~Morgan Harper Nichols
Happy October!
I was listening to a Daily Shine earlier this week and they talked about how we all have this "surge capacity", these mental and physical systems that we can use for "short-term survival in acutely stressful situations".
And how we've been through so much this year that our surge capacity is depleted. I felt that in my soul. π΄ We have collectively been through a lot this year. And we're not done yet. So our body and soul just gets tired sometimes.
We ended the meditation with the words: "I accept my energy as it changes."
I think that is a great affirmation to take into the rest of this year. I felt it quite literally as I have been sick most of the week. Which forced me to prioritize rest and ease.
So I'm keeping this intro short, while also sharing more of Morgan Harper Nichols' goodness with you:
Let September be September.
Let October be October.
Practice stillness
where you need to practice stillness.
Take action where you need to take action.
Give energy to the things
you need to give energy to.
Rest where you need to rest.
And through it all, trust:
no matter what you are waiting for,
you are not simply waiting.
You are growing in your capacity
to be prepared for whatβs to come.

π§ Listening: Spotify's Time Capsule. This new curated playlist is taking me back in time to listen to some old hits. And it looks like it's updating every day. What mine sounds like? A lot of Christina, Britney, NSync, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, P!nk to name several. What does your sound like?
πΊ Watching: The Good Place. This show is definitely a favorite. Eleanor Shellstrop (played by Kristen Bell) dies and finds herself in The Good Place but then she realizes that she is there by mistake. I've probably watched season 1 three times at this point but it's just that good. And the final season just dropped on Netflix. ππΎ
π Tool: Libby. With this app and a library card you can put books (and audiobooks) on hold from the library and borrow them for free. You can even send the ebooks to Kindle to read there if you prefer.

Ditching the video call if you can (and opting for the phone instead) - Zoom fatigue is real.
The Purpose of Your Life Is to Choose a Lifestyle β medium.com
I love, love, this post. You can choose the lifestyle you want. In fact, you can design it. I'm working two jobs and I have a side hustle and that's working for me. There is not only one way to live. You can decide what works best for you. This quote sums it up well:
"Lifestyle design can be as simple as writing down how you want to earn a living, what your hobbies will be, how youβll spend your money, who you will spend your time with, what you will believe, how you will act, where you will live, and how much time you dedicate towards your family."
