"Your biggest commitment must always be to yourself." ππΎββοΈ~Bridgett Devoue
This was my first full week of physical therapy sans boot. In a word: exhausting. π° I'm so happy that I'm making progress but I was really reminded this week that I'm recovering from an injury (in addition to dealing with *gestures wildly* all this) and that is a big deal. Walking on two feet is bringing its own new challenges. I have to be careful to not just get up and walk like I did pre-injury. And I'm learning that ice packs are my friend. π₯Ά It's a dance like anything else but the reminder to have patience with yourself, listen to your body, and take a nap when you need to, is never a bad thing.
Along with that, my first week of #SelfishSemiSabbatical went well. I finished this book and started this one. I am planning to watch the next episodes of Killer Party Musical tonight (highly recommend). And said no (!!) to a $500 event that someone was offering me a free ticket to. I can get used to this! ππΎ.
We launched the Gather the People class this week and it is going well so far! Spent some time reviewing the materials and answering the prompts which has been good for me. Some things I'm realizing:
My strengths include being a connector and a curator
My limits include feeling like an impostor (quite often!)
I want financial freedom + to serve as an example of what's possible
I need to heal from my ankle injury and need a lot of flexibility because of everything on my plate including caregiving
It is nice to take a step back and really think through some of this stuff. If this would be helpful to you too, you can grab the lessons and prompts so far on Instagram. It's gentle so you can work at your own pace and get support along the way through 8/19.
This process already has me thinking about my website (it's time for a little refresh), content buckets, and offerings. This video especially.
On that note, I could use your help. Have you had a win because of anything I've sent you? If so, hit reply and tell me about it. I'd really love to hear it as I think about what's next.
On to the picks!

πΏ Watching: One Tree Hill. I have probably watched this show over a dozen times. (And there are 9 seasons). I feel like right now, it's nice to be able to watch it again and get that feeling of nostalgia all over again. Brotherhood and basketball is the main theme. And the music is π.
π Reading: Gather the People. As I'm going through the Instagram course, I'm finding it really helpful to read the book as well. Sarah has a lot of examples from her own life in it (both as a consultant and as a CEO) and it's helping me nail down some things for myself. Also if you want to grab the book, head to the link in our Instagram bio to get special discount links.

How I Take Care: Model, Activist, and Creator Kendra Austin β advice.shinetext.com
Love this interview series started by Shine in the past few months. This quote stuck out to me:
"So self care for me, really means showing up for myself in fullness and in a wholeness in any way that I needβand it means fulfilling those needs and allowing what I give to the world and in service to my community to be overflowed."
I also love how Kendra uses voice memos to better understand how she talks to herself and journaling as a way to create space for herself.
